What is a Korean head spa and what happens there?

A Korean head spa is a scalp and hair service you book at a salon or at a shop that does nothing else. Many courses include a wash, a scalp massage and a blow dry. SeoulSearch counts 274 head spa places in its Seoul listings (data from 2026-09-28).

What happens during a head spa course?

Many places follow a similar shape, though every shop arranges it differently. A staff member may look at your scalp first, often with a small camera that shows your scalp on a screen. Then comes a wash, a scalp massage, sometimes steam or a warm towel, and a blow dry at the end. The camera check is common, but it is not a rule.

Some courses add a neck and shoulder massage. Some add a hair mask. Our listings confirm that a hair wash and blow dry are included at 1 place. For the other 273, our listings do not confirm it yet.

Course lengths vary by shop. Menus often sell the course by time rather than by what is in it, so a longer course often just includes more steps. Ask what each course includes if the menu does not say. If you want a specific pressure, say so at the start rather than halfway through.

Two SeoulSearch phrases help at the counter:

• 헤드스파 {minutes}분 코스로 예약할게요. (Hedeuseupa {minutes}-bun koseuro yeyakhalgeyo.) Meaning: I would like to book the {minutes} minute head spa course.
• 조금 더 약하게 해주세요. (Jogeum deo yakhage haejuseyo.) Meaning: A little softer, please.

How do I book, and will they speak English?

A head spa takes a room and a staff member for a long block of time, so booking ahead is safer than walking in. Prices vary between neighborhoods and shops, and menus change. We do not show a head spa price range here, so check the current menu before you go.

The table shows what our listings confirm across the 274 places. "Not confirmed" means we do not know yet. It does not mean no.

A few smaller confirmations: 1 place confirms booking by Instagram DM, and 4 places confirm a couple room. For English, only 6 places confirm it and only 2 confirm an English menu, so the phrases above may be useful.

How many head spas are in Seoul, and are any open late?

The 274 places sit in 9 areas of the SeoulSearch bundle. The areas are listed alphabetically and are not ranked.

Opening hours are listed for 235 of the 274 places. The other 39 have no hours in our data. Of the places with hours:

• 48 have listed hours that close at or after 22:00 on at least one day.
• 8 have listed hours that run past midnight on at least one day.
• For 6 places, listed hours show open 24 hours every day (checked Sep 2026).

Check the hours again before you go, and book a time slot where you can.

How we counted

We counted places whose category is head spa, across all Seoul areas in the SeoulSearch bundle. The places come from Naver Place listings and owner confirmations. The guide text comes from SeoulSearch guide cards. All counts are as of 2026-09-28. This post shows counts only and does not list individual places. "Confirmed yes" and "confirmed no" mean a listing or an owner confirmed the answer. "Not confirmed" means we do not have that answer yet.
